Norah Jones Announces 2010 Tour Dates :

Although her new album is entitled "The Fall," Norah Jones is waiting until spring to embark on a 36 city tour, which kicks off Mar. 5, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Norah Jones Tour ScheduleThe trek will see the veteran jazz-pop singer play midsize theatres in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago -- but also hit many smaller markets like Akron, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; and Mobile, Alabama. Several shows go on sale Dec. 4 with the rest becoming available before the end of the year.

"The Fall" is Jones' fourth studio album and she's currently riding a wave of critical praise, although it's unknown how she'll work in the new, more roots-rock approach to her songwriting on this upcoming tour. "The Fall" features collaborations with Okkervil River's Will Sheff, Ryan Adams, Marc Ribot and Smokey Hormel and sees Jones leaving behind the slow balladry that defined her early work.

Jones' fans seem to welcome this new approach. Last week, "The Fall" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 180,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan. Yet instead of hitting the road immediately, Jones has spent November making the television rounds - including performances on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "The View," "Good Morning America" and interview segments on ABC News' "Nightline" and CNN's "Headline News." But that's not all: on December 15 and 16, she'll perform on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" followed by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

While fans become acquainted with her new tunes over the next few months, they can also look forward to three new remixes - all of which will be released on Jan. 12, 2010 as digital downloads and on vinyl. The single "Chasing Pirates" will get remixed by Santigold as well as Beck's remix collective the Droogs. The song "That's What I Said," which is featured on the latest "NCIS" soundtrack, gets the remix treatment from the Beastie Boys' Adrock and Mike D.

“We decided to have people I admire do some remixes,” Jones recently told Entertainment Weekly. “[Adrock and Mike D of] Beasties Boys did one, and Beck, and Santigold.” Jones first collaborated with Beastie Boys during the 2008 presidential election when they recruited her for their Get Out The Vote concerts, which also included Santigold. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

Norah Jones Announces Tour and 2010 US Tour Dates :

Norah Jones ConcertsWe never thought we'd be stoked about the idea of seeing Norah Jones live, but her excellent new album The Fall kinda has us seriously reconsidering our previous anti-Snorah stance. A rootsy, sexy, vibrant and often downright funny album, it's far more down-to-earth (and considerably less somnambulant) than the Starbucks-approved jazz lite she became famous for.

And now, Jones has announced that she'll be taking the songs from the critically-acclaimed album on the road, beginning in March — a Fall tour in the spring, if you will. (And we won't.) The 36-city tour begins March 5 in Tulsa, and is scheduled to finish up May 15 in Atlanta. There are, however, a number of blank dates scattered throughout that ten-week itinerary, so it's possible she'll be adding some more gigs along the way. Tickets go on sale December 4.

Jones enlisted the help of a number of top session musicians for the new album — including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer) — but the identity of her touring band seems to still be up in the air. Seriously, we checked the "Band" section of her website, and all that's there is a blank space that reads "coming soon." We guess she's still sorting all that out, then.
